Use the tool offered by this site to enlarge this image and look closely at the fine carving of the hair trailing down. Also, inspect carefully the gauffrage or embossing used on the surface of the fan. The way the ribbing radiates is remarkable and so lifelike. And before you leave this print take a moment to look more closely at the delicate bokashi, i.e., shading, of the nadeshiko or fringed, pink dianthus. Another beautiful touch.
An unusual touch is the ring the woman is wearing on her right hand, something rarely, if ever, seen in earlier bijin prints.

Michael Watson in his 2021 essay 'Mochizuki: History and Context' noted on page 39 that " The... word nadeshiko literally refers to a flower, the wild pink, but this same word is widely used in premodern Japanese to refer affectionately to a young child." Whether there is a relative point here or not, does not matter. What matters is that the most obscure symbolism shows up in the most unexpected places and should not be dismissed out of hand.
