"Although Watanabe's activities often monopolise the discussion of shin hanga, he was not the only publisher active in this field. With the establishment of shin hanga, others sought to capitalise on its success at home and abroad. The Kyoto publisher Sato Shotaro (act. 1890s-I930s) made reproductions and original prints. He, too, was internationally oriented, visiting Europe and buying prints at auction in London. Sate's most valuable shin hanga artists were Yoshikawa Kanpo (1894-1979) for his actor and landscapes and Miki Suizan (1887-1957) for his landscapes and images of female entertainers..."
